Dr. Robi Ludwig, Dr. Glenn Losack & CRY America present ‘India Unplugged’

A fund-raiser for India’s underprivileged children, featuring the photography of Glenn Losack MD Thursday, April 16, 2009

New York: ‘India Unplugged’, a charity event to benefit underprivileged children in India, will be held in New York on Thursday, April 16, 2009 between 6pm – 10pm. The evening, organized in association with CRY – Child Rights and You America Inc., a US non-profit organization, will feature the sublime photography of seasoned and award winning photographer, Glenn Losack MD.

Dr. Robi Ludwig, co-host for the event, is a nationally renowned psychotherapist, award winning reporter, contributing editor for Cookie magazine and a regular contributor to CNN, Headline news, the Today show and The Fox news channel. She says, "I've always been an advocate for those in need, especially when those people in need are children. CRY America is an amazing organization which has taken on the admirable, albeit difficult task of not only helping the disenfranchised children of India, but also trying to treat the cause of this systemic and problematic cycle of poverty. I've always seen it as my role, as a therapist, author and TV commentator, to use my platform to help others recognize they are not alone, regardless of the seemingly dire circumstances of their lives. It is from this place of helping, where we all can find our purpose in life and the connection and responsibility we have towards each other."

Dr. Losack, physician, psychiatrist, music composer, charity worker and international medical lecturer, considers himself lucky to have travelled in over 50 nations.  He is especially honored and humbled to have had the experience of photographing India, a country unbelievably photogenic and fascinating, a place he calls his second home and where his real heart lies. Says Dr. Losack, It’s a privilege for my work to be exhibited for the cause of child rights in India. The basic rights of children in India - to live, learn, grow, be protected, get violated every day. This event allows me to give back all I have gotten from India. I hope I can entertain as well as educate through my photographs”

Says Shefali Sunderlal, President, CRY America, “Photography as a medium has always transcended boundaries to bring people together for many a cause. We are honored to partner with Dr.Ludwig and Dr.Losack for this event. It enables us to build our movement for children and to ensure that all marginalized children regardless of their caste, class, gender and economic conditions are given what is rightfully theirs - a childhood.”

India Unplugged will be held at Solas, 232 E 9th St., New York, NY on Thursday, April 16, 2009 between 6pm – 10pm
