CRY America RDU Action Center presents Kids for CRY

Kids for CRY is a volunteer-driven project designed to raise funds to help less privileged children in India . The funds are raised through the sale of art and craft items made by children living in the United States . The fundamental thought behind this project is to increase our children’s awareness of the lives of their less fortunate counterparts in other parts of the world, especially in India .

The project involves having children here participate in guided craft and art activities that result in the creation of well-designed items for sale. This year, the items are based on the Diwali theme, and will be stored as inventory until the sale. This year the sale will be held in October, during the Cary Diwali event.

The project will be conducted in sessions, with each session comprising 3 classes. The sessions will initially coincide with the track out sessions of Tracks 1, 4 and 3 of the Wake County Year-Round Calendar. There will also be sessions running through the summer break to accommodate those on the traditional and year-round calendars.

Participants are expected to commit to one session at a time, and make a nominal payment of $15 per session. Checks can be made to “CRY America, Inc.”. This amount will be used to fund the art and project-related supplies. There is no limit on the number of sessions participants may sign up for. At the end of each session, participants will receive a certificate of recognition from CRY America. Classes will be held on Friday mornings from 10 AM to 12 PM, initially in the homes of the project team members. Each session will begin with a short introduction to the cause underlying this project.
