"An Unlikely Friendship in the Slums of Bombay: an American professional's adventures into India's endemic poverty and the people he met."

This isn’t a request for sympathy; it’s asking us all to think what makes us all similar. From the slums of Bombay to the Indian countryside to Pittsburgh, Pa., we’re all human, and we’re all in this together. Even in some of the world’s darkest reaches, there is hope. And even the poor and hungry will share a cup of tea with a well-fed friend.

It’s true; people are living in disgusting poverty. Eric has seen it. He’s smelled it. He also made friends in the teeming slums of this city of 20 million where over 50% of the population lives in such “informal housing”: Bombay, India. Bombay’s slums are filling with migrants from the poorer countryside, and Eric also visited rural development projects with the CRY NGO, which aims to cut the migration swell at its root.
