Seattle Action Center

Background:

Founded in 1998, CRY America Seattle Action Center is one of the oldest Action Centers of CRY in the United States. Today it is comprised of more than a hundred enthusiastic volunteers, who are mostly professionals at Microsoft, Amazon.com and other organizations based around Seattle.

In 2008 CRY Seattle organized a number of successful and fun fundraiser events and raised over $400,000! Ina Mina Dika, CRY Seattle’s annual Bollywood concert celebrated its 10th year anniversary in style. It was sold out over 10 days in advance and helped raise over $20,000 through ticket sales and innovative fundraising techniques. Uphaar, CRY’s annual benefit dinner raised over $150,000 for child rights projects in India and the US. CRY Idol, a talent competition showcasing Indian singing & dancing, a huge success, raising over $4000. CRY Seattle partnered with other action centers of CRY America to organize a tour of Indian rock-fusion band Indian Ocean. Their concert in Seattle was a huge success, helping raise over $10,000. CRY also participated in Microsoft’s Give campaign, organizing a poker tournament and a carrom tournament.

2009 is shaping up to be an exciting year! CRY & DREAMS organized “Desi Girl”, a Bollywood-themed dance drama. A sold-out performance of this helped raise over $15,000.

We have a number of exciting events coming up this year. See below for more information, and tune in to http://www.cryseattle.org for more event details .

New volunteers are always welcome!  Your involvement can make a huge difference in the lives of underprivileged children.

The team meets every Monday on the Microsoft campus.
