About CRY America
CRY - Child Rights and You America Inc. (CRY America), a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2002, is driven by its vision of a just world all children, especially Indian, have equal opportunities to develop to their full potential and realize their dreams.
In just over eight years, CRY America has irreversibly transformed the lives of over 358,000 children and their communities, living across 1,916 villages and slums in India through support to 52 Projects in India and the USA.
This is how we do it
1. Understand the root cause of the problem
Illiteracy, malnutrition, female feticide, and child labor are symptoms of larger problems like lack of livelihood, displacement, caste and gender bias. By addressing the root cause of the problems, we work to eliminate the visible symptoms
2. Create Awareness
We seek the support of our donors, volunteers, the media, and our website www.america.cry.org to reach out to the general public about the situation of underprivileged children and CRY America's 'child rights' approach and model of change.
3. Civic Engagement
Volunteers come from all walks of life to help harness resources, create an awareness about children‘s issues and build the child rights movement.
4. Generate resources
Individuals like you help us with donations and resources that go towards creating a lasting change in the lives of underprivileged children.
5. Enable change
The funds and volunteer time generated help build the capacities of supported Projects to mobilize communities improve their and their children‘s lives.
CRY America believes in the power of people and the process of collective action. Of individuals and organizations spurred by the belief that ’Change is possible, because I will make it possible‘.
Today, 52 NGO partners, 15,000 individuals and 500 volunteers are doing what‘s right for underprivileged children.
CRY America mobilizes a team of likeminded people, willing to commit their time and resources to the cause of children's rights. Funds raised are channelized towards NGO partners in India working on child development initiatives. To know more about CRY America supported projects, do visit www.america.cry.org
