Vol. 23, September 2012

Dear CRY America supporter,

With your support, CRY America strives to create a world where all children have an equal opportunity to dream big and realize their dreams. The milestones that we have achieved in the last 10 years would not have been possible without you and the collective belief that together, we can transform the lives of children.

Click here to view the dreams of children like Sheetal, who was able to stay in school, pushing the boundaries of tradition that restricted her from traveling the distance. Today, she dreams of being a nurse, to give back to her community. Or Nitin, whose aspiration to become a doctor to care for the unhealthy stems from the change he has experienced in his community or Laxmi who wants to become a teacher, so she can encourage girls to go to school just like she does.

In our 10 year journey, you have helped 411,359 children like Sheetal, Nitin and Laxmi dream big. Thank you for making this possible. We hope you will continue to help us reach out to many more children.

With best wishes,

Project Story
Rathnam Venkat Rathnam Venkat – CRY America Student Volunteer Leader, Munster, Indiana

“My experience was great. I visited the SCSTEDS project (Slum Children Sports Talent and Education Development Society). Coming from the community that I live in, the visit was eye-opening. I was shocked at the poor living conditions in the Vysarpati slums of Chennai. There was little sanitation and many people looked malnourished...
...They started a great program helping at-risk youths stay out of trouble. The kids play football in their free time, and they really enjoy it. All of them are very talented, and it seemed to me that playing football encouraged them to focus on their studies. All were enthusiastic about learning and making a good life for themselves and others. I spent multiple days with the kids in the slum ...CRY's funding has allowed them to do this and more. In my visit, I learned that community has been strengthened by this project. CRY has supported a great cause, and I am glad that I was able to see it first hand."
