Dear CRY America supporter,

Whether it is in sharing a common passion or coming together for a cause, communities are increasingly driving change across the world. We see evidence of this in the ever-increasing group of CRY volunteers and donors across the US. With your support, in the last 8 years, CRY America has impacted the lives of over 358,000 underprivileged children living across 1916 communities through 52 supported projects in India and USA.

In its 8th year, CRY America’s largest annual event – CRY Walk for Child Rights will be organized by 20 Volunteer Chapters all over the USA. Come join us in Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Southern California, Pittsburgh, San Diego and Bay Area in the next few months.

Donations raised from the CRY Walk will go towards ensuring every child's right to a childhood - to live, learn, grow and play.

Please do read below for details and I look forward to your participation in the CRY Walk in your city!

With best wishes,

CRY Walk for Child Rights 2011

Excerpt by Nikita Bhatia, New Jersey Action Center Leader (a 15 year old) on the first Walk held in NJ

“We were able to get 50 people at the event in torrential downpour. There was thunder and it was pouring rain, but we all walked our 5K! Our event included student performances of singing, dancing, and instruments. With the help of our local Mexican joint, Chipotle, we were able to give burritos, chips and salsa to everyone and drinks! We had many posters raising awareness of the children in India and CRY. Many people wanted to support the cause and were thinking of joining our volunteer group. We had henna tattoos, mendhi, a $300 raffle (with all of our sponsors' gift certificates), and apple picking...

...Though our event was almost rained out and we did not have as many participants as expected, after expenses, we were able to make $3,000. This was our first event and we will be sure to rectify our mistakes and make much more money for our next event! We are proud of ourselves for now, but this was a learning experience and we know how to perfect our events in the future!”
