REMEMBERING ANANDBHAI

CRY deeply mourns the loss of Shri Anand Bhatt in the terrorist attack on Mumbai.

Anandbhai was a CRY Trustee from the years 1991 to 2006. He brought to CRY his formidable skills as one of India's leading solicitors, but most importantly he lent CRY his extraordinary goodwill, grounded us with his rock solid values and touched us all with his generous heart. He carried this extraordinary reputation and standing with simplicity and humility.

Most people fell in love with Anandbhai quite instantly. Here was a brilliant lawyer (a fact many of us in CRY who were not familiar with the legal world, would discover after knowing him a while!) who was so transparent in his dealings, concerns and heart. While in his lawyering he was all head, in his interactions with people he was all heart.

Anandbhai also played an instrumental role in the setting up of CRY America. He spent many hours interacting with US lawyers to ensure that CRY America's legal structure and documents were absolutely compliant and of the highest quality. He personally went through all major legal documents (and there were several of them) to ensure that everything was in order. He personally supervised the CRY America incorporation process in the US. Anandbhai was also a great supporter of having a position on the CRY America Board dedicated to a Volunteer Representative which is now part of the organizations structure and culture.

Anandbhai played a pivotal role in ensuring that the transition phase from CRY Inc (now Vibha) to the fully operational CRY America went off smoothly.

Anandbhai was dearly loved and deeply respected by all who knew him. CRY has always relied on Anandbhai for his legal brilliance and strength and he was always there for us.

May Anandbhai's soul rest in peace. We offer our deepest sympathies to his family.

Sincerely,
Shefali Sunderlal
For the CRY America family
