Join CRY America's 9th Walk for Child Rights coming to 20 cities across USA
August 22nd, 2012: CRY - Child Rights and You America Inc, (CRY America), a 501c3 non-profit organization announces it's 9th Walk for Child Rights 2012, which will take place across 20 cities in the USA. The CRY Walk is an opportunity for people to show their support for the cause of Indian children, who are denied their basic rights to live, learn, grow and play.
CRY Walk 2012 will be held in Seattle, Boston, New York, Chicago, Bay Area, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Detroit and several other cities till November 2012. The event comprises of non competitive 5k walks, activities for kids and snacks for everyone! Competitive runs are being organized at some venues.
Speaking about the event, Shefali Sunderlal, President, CRY America said, "We invite everyone (grand-parents, parents and children) to join our local city walks to ensure that underprivileged children realize their potential and their dreams. This year's walk will raise awareness on girl children who are constantly denied their rights to education, healthcare and fulfillment of their aspirations".
CRY America, over the last decade, has ensured lasting change in the lives of over 411,359 children living across 2,254 villages and slums through support to 56 projects. This was done by working with community groups to ensure that children went to school and not to work. Today, 364 public healthcare centers and, 1,089 public schools have been activated, and 501 villages are child labor free.
"This impact has been possible only because of the support received from 17,000 donors and 2000 volunteers. If we all come together and address children's issues with a sense of urgency, then no child will remain illiterate, malnourished or exploited", Sunderlal concluded.
CRY Walk 2012 sponsors include Star TV, Inome, Mera Sangeet, TV Asia, Parikh Worldwide and India Abroad.
