CRY America Advisory Board
Advisory Board members are ambassadors and advisors that assist with strategic growth plans of CRY America, specially in the areas of fundraising from high net worth individuals, media outreach & technical guidance on finance & statutory compliances. CRY America looks for Advisors in the areas of financial & statutory compliance, fundraising & brand building, corporate/ business leaders, media spokespersons and child development experts. Advisory Board members are not responsible for policies & statutory compliance. They serve in volunteer positions in salient geographic locations for a 2 year term. The Advisory Board selection, induction & quarterly planning & review meetings with individual members are led by Apoorv Agarwal.
The CRY America Advisory Board currently comprises of the following members:
Dr. Apoorv Agarwal - Advisory Board Director
Apoorv started his association with CRY America as a volunteer in 2004 & thereafter took on the role of the Detroit Action Center Leader in 2007. He was nominated to serve as the Volunteer Representative on the Board of Directors in 2009. He has continued to serve on the BOD as an Honorary Trustee and Treasurer. Apoorv was recently appointed as the Director of the CRY America Advisory Board in February 2016.
Dr. Agarwal is the founder and principal of Ingineering Innovation LLC, a sustainability focused consulting practice. Previously, he has served in various engineering and management capacities in the Research & Advanced Engineering and Electrified Powertrain Engineering organizations of Ford Motor Company. Dr. Agarwal is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He currently lives in Durham, NC with his wife Sunita and son Johan.
Anita Agarwal - Advisory Board Member, New Jersey
Anita Handa Agarwal has been a member of the CRY America Advisory Board since April 2015. She started her affiliation with CRY in India in 1989 when she joined CRY Mumbai as a Program Manager after finishing her master’s degree in Non-Profit Management at the New School for Social Research in NYC. Anita also holds a master’s degree in economics from Mumbai University, and worked for a bank in Mumbai. Anita returned to full-time employment in 2015, with the joining of non profit 4CS of Passaic County as Operations Manager.
Anita has played a significant role in leading CRY’s New York Gala Dinner for the past two years, which has seen the event double in terms of revenues & high net worth attendees from the NY-NJ geographies. She has also served as a member on the board of The Middleton Early Learning Center and The Women’s Club, both in Glen Ridge, NJ, where she lives with her husband Ajay and sons Arkin and Avi .
Dharam Bali - Advisory Board Member, Houston
Dharam Bali has been a member of the CRY America Advisory Board since 2015. He has been a long standing volunteer since 2008 and has led the CRY Houston Chapter for 3 years since 2010 where he was responsible for organizing several CRY Walk & musical events. Dharam was instrumental in leading & organizing CRY’s first Houston Gala Dinner in 2016 which brought together 175 high net worth individuals for the cause of children’s rights.
Dharam is the owner of Vantive, an IT Consulting and Staffing company. He is a Computer Science engineer from University of Pune and has worked as a Consultant with many companies including CAPGEMINI, Deloitte, PwC, IBM and Accenture. He loves travelling and exploring new places. He currently lives in Houston with his wife Priya.
Dr. Vikas Anand - Advisory Board Member, Arkansas
Dr. Vikas Anand received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University, and an MBA in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. His major areas of research include corruption and ethics in organizations, knowledge management in organizations, and trends in the globalization of business practices such as outsourcing. He has published his work in top international journals and his work has been cited extensively. He has also taught and lectured in multiple locations in the world, and has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards.
Vikas currently hold the Charles Fichtner Chair in Management and is the Chair of the Department of Management at the University of Arkansas. For years he has co-led the Study Abroad trip to India where Walton College students have been exposed to the culture, diversity, business practices and social issues in India. Vikas joined the CRY America Advisory Board in August 2016.
