Children bring a smile and joy to all of us! Most of us have been fortunate to have had a comfortable childhood and are blessed with plenty for ourselves and our children.

Unfortunately, not all children in the world have a carefree and secure childhood. Millions of India's children go to bed each night hungry, hopeless and angry. They lack basic necessities of life. Less than half of India’s children between the age 6 and 14, go to school. Many are born into bonded labor, with no hope of breaking free. These are just some examples of violations of children’s constitutional rights. CRY - Child Rights and You, America exists today - to amplify the voice of children.

What CRY (Child Rights and You) does?

CRY believes that children are citizens in their own right, entitled to the full spectrum of human rights. CRY partners with grassroots-level NGOs working with children, their parents and communities.

As communities become aware of their rights and come together to ensure them, transformational and self sustaining positive changes happen. These communities not only enrol children in schools but they also start addressing the root causes that keep them hungry, illiterate, exploited and abused.

CRY (global), established in 1979, has thus far positively impacted the lives of over 1.5 million children, thanks to volunteers and patrons such as you. In just over 5 years, CRY America has transformed the lives of more than 156,000 children living across 1211 communities in India and the USA.

The grim reality, however, is that despite all these many small triumphs, a lot more needs to be done.

How can we help?

Each one of us can do our part by providing a helping hand – a small donation, a few hours of volunteering for social work with an NGO, spreading the word around about the good work organizations such as CRY.

I strongly believe that if we can help the under-served and under-privileged children today and give them an opportunity to realize their full potential, they will become the literate and responsible citizens of tomorrow, thereby helping build a better and brighter future for everyone.

Thousands of CRY volunteers and donors believe that "Change is possible, because I’ll make it possible.”

It would be really great if you could join Team EMD in the 5K walk on Sunday 9/20 at Busse Woods Forest Preserve (Grove 5) Corner of Higgins & Arlington Hts Rd, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007 at 9am.

Team EMD’s theme - Walk together! Enjoy and Make a Difference!

If you are unable to make it to event, but are willing to make a donation, please click ‘Donate or Pledge’ on this page.
