Did you know that 95 in every 1000 children born in India, do not see their fifth birthday? And there are about 2 million child commercial sex workers between the age of 5 and 15 years?
I have always believed every child in this world deserves to dream and pursue happiness. Due to the sad state of affairs in our country, many children get exploited, forced into child labor, abused, and denied the most basic survival needs. As responsible adults, we need to show that we care and we lend a hand to protect their rights which is how we bring about love and compassion into this world. Gandhi said "If we wish to create a lasting peace we must begin with the children". With pure and innocent hearts, children are the best hope for the future.
Being a volunteer with the CRY Seattle chapter for the past few months and learning about CRY, I do believe that CRY’s approach through grassroot organizations brings about lasting change for children.
"The smallest good deed is worth more than the grandest intention" – John Burroughs. The money you pay for a meal at a restaurant can provide basic needs for a child for a year! Please don’t put this off for a later time or day, please donate what you can now.
