Lets get some smiles back on !
Smile: the webster defines it as "a facial expression in which the eyes brighten and the corners of the mouth curve slightly upward and which expresses especially amusement, pleasure and approval"
I think of it as a reason for everything we do..the purpose of our life.. Be it a smile on your parents, your partner, your friends, family, relatives, community and the world at large..we live and die for these smiles.. And of all these smiles, the one that makes me smile the most is the smile of a child.
That is what I strive for.. To ensure that I see a smile on every child's face. A happy child means a happy world means a happy future for all of us.
In this endeavor of mine, I got re-introduced to CRY [Child Rights and You], America last year through my wife, Monica. I realized that we shared a common goal of bringing smiles on the faces of young children. And as some of you already know, I have been actively involved with their efforts since then.
CRY works on the 4 basic rights of children: Right to survive to ensure the child is healthy, Right to protection to ensure the child is safe, Right to development to ensure the child stays healthy and safe and Right to participation to ensure the biggest of smiles on a healthy and secure child.
They work with the local communities to attack the cause and not the symptoms. CRY, America is involved in several projects in US and in India. And have the highest standards on accountability of the funds invested. For more information, please take a look at www.cryamerica.org
Last year, I was involved in a 3K walk to raise funds for CRY, America. This year, I have raised the bar and will be participating in a 5k run on the 17th of September. Again, those of you who know me well.. know that running is a concept which is alien to my body. Please donate generously to my cause and help me reach my target.
There are a lot of things that catch the eye but only some that will catch your heart. Lets pursue the ones that catch our heart.. Lets get some smiles back on !
