CRY America's Southern California Chapter and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles(CHLA) have joined hands to organize a community blood drive program '100 Lives' . The blood donations will be utilized for saving the lives and for the treatment of up-to 100 children or more.
Children's Hospital of Los Angeles is LA's first and largest hospital dedicated specifically to the treatment of children through-out Southern California and children who come from other places.
Every years CHLA: - Treat nearly 58,000 children in their emergency department - Admit into the hospital approximately 11,000 patients - Perform 13,000 pediatric surgeries - Treat more than 287,000 outpatients
The Need: CHLA's infant and young children need 1000 units of blood and 250 units of platelets every month. Blood cannot be manufactured, it only comes from voluntary donors. One unit of blood can save up-to 3 lives.
Blood donation takes only 15 minutes and your body starts replenishing blood almost immediately. Blood can be donated every 8 weeks.
You have the power in you to save lives, so take the time to save a child's life!.
